At London Fabric Company you spend time with Nina Campbell collections like the Sylvana Fabrics, a collection of romantic and elegant fabrics of both grand and mid-scale. Within the collection we note the Swan Lake: a beautifully observed lake scene of swans, weeping willow and waterlilies printed on cotton; The Salix: a jacquard willow stripe woven with an ombre effect through the leaves in four contemporary colourways; the Orchard Blossom: a trail composed of branches bearing blossom depicted in exquisite detail on pure linen; The Sylvana: Floral silhouettes printed in monochrome on a cotton ground of contrasting colour. The Arboretum: an elaborate composition of embroidered grasses and applique velvet foliage on linen; and lastly, the Campbell Damask: a woven ombrie damask of the grandest scale in classic Nina Campbell colourings.
Flaubert Collection
The Flaubert Collection presents a miniature multicoloured chequerboard woven in eight complementary colourings, named after Gustave Flaubert (1821-80) was leader of the 19th century naturalist school, his most famous work being Madame Bovary (1857).
Birdcage Walk Collection
The Birdcage Walk Collection features elegant printed fabrics that have all been given appropriate London place names which help evoke the cosmopolitan nature of England's capital city. The Birdcage Walk part of the collection presents a combination of songbirds and gilt cages set on trailing branches printed on crisp cotton named after the famous approach to Buckingham Palace. 'Birdcage' refers to the time when Charles II kept an aviary of exotic birds at this location. Magnolia Terrace presents a bold, stylised blooms of magnolia on a coloured linen combination ground. Kew Green features an overscaled tree of life in contemporary colourings. Kew Green is located next to the world famous botanical gardens. Peony Place features an all-over trail of peonies interspersed with subtly gilded butterflies. Pagoda Garden presents a stylised rendering of exotic bamboo leaves. Fleur De Lys Court features the traditional heraldic emblem is given a modern two-tone coloured treatment on a basket weave of pure linen.
