Antique SatinAntique Satin refers to a satin fabric of horizontal (weft) slubs imitating spun shantung silk. The face yarn fibre is 60% rayon and the back yarn fibre is 40% acetate. Often the warp and weft yarns are dyed with different colours for an iridescent effect. Antique satin refers to any 5 or 8 harness (shaft) satin weave that uses slubed or unevenly spun yarns in the weft (filling). Antique Satin can be made using silk, rayon or acetate in the warp and coarser cotton or manmade fibres in the weft (filling). |

Antique Satin is a satin-faced version of shantung or duppioni. The name refers to the fabric's hand spun and hand woven appearance. Satin - a basic type of weave with up to eight weft threads are tied down with one floating weft thread. It is light to medium-weight with glossy face and a dull back.
